25 years on, Timothy is still crossing the departmental boundaries
With a career of 25 years on the clock, Timothy proves that perseverance and a healthy dose of stress go hand in hand. Recently, he crossed a departmental boundary for the second time. This time from planning to project. This is how he keeps his inner fire blazing, in a familiar environment.
Learning new skills outside the comfort zone
Learning new skills has been the leitmotiv of Timothy’s career at Callens. That keeps him engrossed and agile. In 2024 he took the leap to project engineer, after, back in 2016, making the switch from warehouse manager to planner.

“When learning is finite, I run out of steam. Thanks to the privileged environment at Callens, I have been able to keep learning for 24 years now”, Timothy explains.

Because Callens offers a one-stop-shop service, projects go through many phases and departments. As planner, he saw to it that the assembly teams arrived at the right site at the right time. A complex job he managed to master 200 %. And right at that point, Timothy decided to break out of his comfort zone.
Breaking out for new projects
“After 8 years as planner, I was basically learning nothing new,” Timothy continues. “That began to bother me. So, I cast my eye on the role of project engineer, because there would be plenty new to learn. Because of my previous roles, I knew most of the installation components and how they worked in practice like no other. Now, I build on that by coordinating projects from assembly to start-up.”
What warms the cockles of his heart time and again?
“The support from competent colleagues never ceases to amaze me. No question is ever too much for them.”

Timothy focuses on the smaller projects because that offers plenty of variety and allows him to get lots of experience in record time. And that suits him to a T. “In this role, I feel I’ll be able to learn to infinity,” he continues. “That’s what makes me want to immerse myself in the everyday challenges.”
